In 1997/1998 two researches Arno Riedl and Simon Gaechter at the Insitute for Advanced Studies - Vienna, where I worked at that time as well, were looking at experimental economics - a new field of research at that time. They wanted to use experiments to answer questions about human behaviour. The idea was to put people in a situation, where they had to make decisions and so get answers to some elementary questions of human behaviour. These experiments, where conducted with the software I wrote actually for a somehow different purpose, but it proofed to be generic enough to do the job. The Rabbit is a simple, easy to use 3rd generation language, which has interfaces to curses, networking support and a special "game" library linked to it, which was the reason to use Rabbit at all. The program rabbit itself is an interpreter.
I am not really familiar with experiemental economics. But I can tell, that it is very interesting, and if you want to know more please find the research paper which I downloaded from Arno Riedl's Homepage.
